Walter (Wally) Hirsh, OBE, is a keen tramper, tour guide, adventurer, environmentalist and emerging potter, but is probably better known to New Zealanders for his work as Race Relations Conciliator and Human Rights Commissioner in the 1980s. He has tramped extensively throughout New Zealand and in many other countries. Wally lives in Auckland with his wife Adele.
