95bFM's Loose Reads: One Day a Taniwha by Tīhema Baker / by Time Out Bookstore

Jenna visited the new bFM studio for the first time to review Tīhema Baker’s One Day a Taniwha.

This is Baker’s second novel and follows Hōhepa as he attempts to balance his new role as a sleepless father, his work as an accountant at the Kāpiti Council and his dismay at local and international political unrest.

A paua eyed figure starts emerging in his restless dreams, blurring the lines between waking life and the realm of Te Pō.

For fans of Dominic Hoey, Shilo Kino and Becky Manawatu, this book is drawn from personal experience and is an emotional exploration of the mental health of Māori men and the effect on the community surrounding them.
